Using your email signature to connect

Today’s communications are happening not only over the phone and email but also through our social networks. One of the ways to connect in more places online and to extend your influence in relationships is to encourage people to connect with you on your social networks. There are many ways to do this.

One easy way is to add a friendly reminder in your email signature to connect. If you want people to connect to your Facebook business page make sure you provide that link instead of one to your personal profile.

Purchase the graphic icons of the networks you participate in like Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter. Copy them into your email signature. Then insert the actual URL or hyperlink of your social media profiles. If you use web based email there is a free tool called wisestamp that will do this for you.

Another option which simplifies your email signature is to use an electronic business card. For example the site about.me will give you a place to list all of the places you connect online. Your email signature would look like:

Other companies that offer this are

One other option is to register a domain name with your name or brand. For example amychorew.com or amychorew.info. Use a WordPress theme that is created for an online business card. A Google search yielded me millions of hits, so have fun picking one! One I like is Woothemes “antisocial” at http://www.woothemes.com/2009/08/antisocial/

Your email signature could then be:
www.amychorew.info

Focus on Online Behavior not Tools

We recently launched the new ePro course at NAR. Jeff Turner of Real Estate Shows recorded a short video  with Peter Brewer from Australia, that gave some insight into the power of the new ePro.  SMMI the authors of the course (Bill Lublin, Ginger Wilcox, me Amy Chorew and Hall Lublin) firmly believe that if you can understand the theory of using social media in your marketing mix, it doesn’t matter what tools you end up using. Check it out.

Join me as we interview Carmen Multhauf from GenerationalHousing.com to gain valuable insights into how the personalities, attitudes and preferences of home buyers, and the consuming public in general, come to be defined by their generational identification. Specific age groups have influences that affect their needs and wants, and the way they approach major life decisions. In addition, each generation is affected differently by changes in financing, retirement systems, estate planning, tax laws, and housing design and location. And there is little doubt that the current economic turmoil is having different effects on each generation.

Twitter Followers – Making it easy for you!

Search screen for twitterTwitter is an amazing resource for me. Not only do I learn a lot by following very smart people, but I am able to leverage my relationships by asking questions and post content that could be beneficial to my followers.

I don’t have tons of follows, I have decided to grow my list organically. As I post people find me and follow me. Sometime when I get the email I don’t have lots of time to follow through and see if this is someone I would like to follow as well.

This is a post to share a simple program called Topify. It has enable me very quickly to figure out who people are who are following me and whether or not I will be following them.

You can sign up for Topify at www.topify.com.

Plain and simple it saves me time. When someone decides to follow me I am sent an email. The email

  • Has buttons to easily follow or block them
  • Number of followers
  • Number of updates and their engagement level
  • Their bio
  • Samples of the Tweets

I think topify sends better twitter email notifications. Even better, if  I am reading the email on my Blackberry I can follow back by just replying. I can even reply with a direct message via email. With a click I can either follow, or block.

If you do follow someone Topify sends a confirmation message.

Sign up at Topify. Change the email in your Twitter profile to the one topify gives you and you can take advantage of this easy to use program.
