I recently updated to Microsoft Office 2007 and have been playing around and getting comfortable with Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I found a great new feature in Word 2007. When you open a new document it asks if it is a document or a blog post. You can now create a blog post and publish it right to your blog from your computer. You can use the features of Word, to add hyperlinks and pictures, which has quite a comfort level for many of us. It works with many of the popular Blog software platforms. I found a great video on CNET that explains it very well. Click here to view. A great feature if you want to blog and you are not online, or if you just don’t feel like Jotting!
Headline in the newspaper – “Chi Trib Dumps Print Classifieds”
Okay, we could say “WE TOLD YOU SO”, but would you have listened? Yes, and you have. Many of us have made the final move to online marketing and it has enriched our business.
Basically what it says is that the Chicago Tribune has started to limit the amount of classifieds they are printing in the newspaper and “driving” the consumer on line. They are starting with the Help Wanted but it will lead to all classifieds. It is going to cut down on their “printing expenses.” Wow, they are going “Green” as well. Back at ya Chi Trib.
At the Inman Connect Conference I recently attended, Martin Nisenholtz, Sr. VP, Digital Operations, of the New York Times mentioned that they are going to expand their real estate section online to include a multi author blog from the real estate industry. They already have a mobile version. Check it out at nytimes.com/mobileRE
The Boston Globe does that already. Check out Boston.com and click on real estate. As Tevye said in “Fiddler on the Roof” – It is a new world, Golda. My real estate friends, we need to heed his advice.
