I was at the airport the other day and a gentleman went up to the counter to speak to the woman boarding our flight and LEFT HIS iPAD at the counter. I yelled after him and he came back and retrieved it. His comment was:
Expect some really good karma today! which really made me laugh.
We ended up waiting for the same flight and chatted about how we LOVE our iPad and were comparing apps, (don’t we all?) Any way I mentioned password protecting his iPad since he seems to have a tendency to misplace it and then he bequeathed a double portion of Karma for the day.
If you don’t know how to do it here is a short tutorial.
Click on the SETTING ICON and the following screen shows up. Yours will look a little different than mine because of programs you use.
Click on PASSCODE LOCK. Here you can Require Passcode and decide if it is a simple one of four digits or create a longer one. Do it. Today. If you want Karma, you will
Today’s communications are happening not only over the phone and email but also through our social networks. One of the ways to connect in more places online and to extend your influence in relationships is to encourage people to connect with you on your social networks. There are many ways to do this.
One easy way is to add a friendly reminder in your email signature to connect. If you want people to connect to your Facebook business page make sure you provide that link instead of one to your personal profile.
Purchase the graphic icons of the networks you participate in like Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter. Copy them into your email signature. Then insert the actual URL or hyperlink of your social media profiles. If you use web based email there is a free tool called wisestamp that will do this for you.
Another option which simplifies your email signature is to use an electronic business card. For example the site about.me will give you a place to list all of the places you connect online. Your email signature would look like:
Other companies that offer this are
One other option is to register a domain name with your name or brand. For example amychorew.com or amychorew.info. Use a WordPress theme that is created for an online business card. A Google search yielded me millions of hits, so have fun picking one! One I like is Woothemes “antisocial” at http://www.woothemes.com/2009/08/antisocial/
Your email signature could then be:
www.amychorew.info
Let me know which one you do!
I have been playing with lots of products to see which product is easy to use, easy to access and efficient. Dropbox has won my heart. Oops, I skipped a beat!
Why?
Dropbox is a great way to experience a virtual office or “Cloud Computing.” Visit www.dropbox.com and download the software onto your computer. They give you a free 2 gb account to play with. Once the software is installed an icon appears on your taskbar. You can drag files onto the icon and upload them automatically to your online Dropbox account.
If you have more than one computer registered, or if you are sharing files with someone else, Dropbox allows you to sync your files online and across your computers automatically.
a) Sync files of any size or type.
b) Sync Windows, Mac and Linux computers.
c) Automatically syncs when new files or changes are detected.
d) You can view your files from a web browser and now there are free apps for your Iphone, Ipad or Android.
Try it out!
Twitter is an amazing resource for me. Not only do I learn a lot by following very smart people, but I am able to leverage my relationships by asking questions and post content that could be beneficial to my followers.
I don’t have tons of follows, I have decided to grow my list organically. As I post people find me and follow me. Sometime when I get the email I don’t have lots of time to follow through and see if this is someone I would like to follow as well.
This is a post to share a simple program called Topify. It has enable me very quickly to figure out who people are who are following me and whether or not I will be following them.
You can sign up for Topify at www.topify.com.
Plain and simple it saves me time. When someone decides to follow me I am sent an email. The email
I think topify sends better twitter email notifications. Even better, if I am reading the email on my Blackberry I can follow back by just replying. I can even reply with a direct message via email. With a click I can either follow, or block.
If you do follow someone Topify sends a confirmation message.
Sign up at Topify. Change the email in your Twitter profile to the one topify gives you and you can take advantage of this easy to use program.
